As the course comes to a close, there are three things to consider and plan for, mainly if and how:
Recognising what your students have accomplished is an important part of closing the course well. There are several ways you can do this:
Counselling meeting — A one-to-one conversation gives you the opportunity to reflect with each student on their progress, acknowledge their strengths, and offer personalised guidance as they move into the application process.
Certificate of completion — A certificate provides students with a tangible record of their participation that they can keep and share. Here is a template that you can use and adapt to create a certificate for the students:

Letter of recommendation — A personalised letter from a facilitator can be a valuable addition to a student’s application. Example recommendation letters are available below to help you get started.

Gathering feedback from your students is a valuable part of running the Guidance Programme well. At Mosaik, we evaluate our courses in stages so that we can measure impact over time — not just at the end of the course, but as students progress through their applications.

Facilitator feedback
In addition to student feedback it is always useful to get feedback from facilitators. We recommend doing this through consultation or small focus groups if you have a number of facilitators.
The relationships students build during the Guidance Programme can be just as valuable as the course content itself. We encourage you to help students stay connected and support one another as they navigate the application process. The WhatsApp group that you have been using throughout the course is an excellent place for this to happen.
Consider how you can encourage this. Also decide if you want to remain a member of the group. If you decide to leave it is a good idea to make all members ‘admin’.
Remember even if you do leave you can still contact students and ask them to share on the group.
The level that students are supporting each other can also be valuable feedback from the survey. It can also be a great opportunity for you to check in with the students.
