In direct response to the mental health crisis precipitated by the war in Ukraine, Lviv Polytechnic National University (LPNU) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) have launched a pioneering 1 + 1 full-time Dual MSc that combines LPNUโs lived experience of trauma-in-war contexts with NTUโs expertise in psychological wellbeing.
Year 1 is delivered online by LPNU, covering foundational courses in psychoanalytic theory, trauma psychology, group and family psychotherapy, and research design in psychological counselling.
Year 2 builds on NTUโs established MSc in Psychological Wellbeing and Mental Health, offering advanced modules in clinical research methods, case formulation and intervention, and theory-practice integration, all delivered via online and blended learning.
This twinning model supports up to 30 Ukrainian students initially, with plans to expand to additional international cohorts.
Students benefit from up to one semester of immersive study at NTUโs Clifton or City Campus, gain hands-on experience through LPNUโs Laboratory of Organizational Psychology and NTUโs work-like independent research projects, and access both institutionsโ extensive industry partnerships for practicum placements in healthcare and humanitarian settings.
