Mosaik Growth Group
Mosaik Education supports refugees to access higher education through academic guidance and skills programmes that are designed with the refugee community and leverage technology. We are seeking to bring about systemic change that empowers a community of refugees and civil society to shape and lead education through open resources, technology and participatory design.
Today, only 3 percent of eligible refugees have access to higher education, compared to 37 percent of global youth. This limits their potential to become self-reliant, integrate and contribute in their host communities, and to help reconstruct their home country when they return.
Last year, the UN Refugee Agency set a target to increase the proportion of refugees reaching university to 15% by 2030 - this will mean approximately 440,000 young refugees joining higher education within 10 years.
Mosaik’s programmes address crucial barriers that refugees face in reaching university - and we can’t keep up with demand. These programmes have been shortlisted for awards, run through accelerator schemes.
We need to scale our programmes. We have an outline of how to do this. But we need further critique and support to achieve it.
About the Mosaik Growth Group
We are building an advisory group of senior volunteers to provide insight, expertise and networks to support the development and testing of our plans for growth.
Members of the Growth Group will provide feedback and challenge on Mosaik’s plans, have at least one 1-2-1 meeting with Mosaik CEO every quarter, and take part in three Group workshops to reflect on plans and progress.
It is anticipated that the Group will be maintained as a short-term project for a year only. We estimate the total time commitment for this year to be 12 hours.
Simply, we are looking for individuals who have:
- A track record of entrepreneurship and/or leadership in scaling innovative businesses or products - this could be in the charity, social enterprise or commercial space
- The enthusiasm and energy that matches the scale of the challenge
- If you have expertise in education technology or working in humanitarian contexts, that’s a bonus
What’s in it for you
- Play a crucial role in achieving an historic target for refugee education access
- The opportunity to network and learn from likeminded others in the Growth Group
Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org sharing your LinkedIn profile. We will be arranging short phone calls in January 2021 to share more about our plans.
